Þórðu Hallgrímsson - Meditation on the Age of Rubbish

Meditation on the Age of Rubbish is a short piece commissioned by my good friend Jón Arnar Einarsson and his trombone quartet at the Norwegian Academy of Music. The piece is quite aggressive and mechanic as it describes the journey of the garbage in our daily life. The tonal material is limited to four base materials: quarter tones, air tones, glissandi with (utter tongue and singing and each represents a phase in the life cycle of garbage. Consumerism, garbage collection, land*ll and degradation. The piece was composed in autumn 2019. - Þórður Hallgrímsson
